Catching a Vision for Your Life

There’s something powerful about tuning into the dreams in your heart and spirit and catching a vision for your life. It brings a deep sense of hope and inspires us, and inspiration is a life force in itself. It can also bring a refreshing and a sense of renewal. Thinking about our next step reflects our natural inclination to develop ourselves. It speaks to our desire for newness and our very real need to experience a change of seasons, and close one chapter of our lives, and begin the next. The awesome thing about catching a vision for your life is that it pertains to every person, no matter if they are established, pursuing or living out a current dream for their life or their family, or are standing at the cusp of a new beginning and determining “what’s next?” It applies to big, overarching dreams for your life, or smaller, more specific goals for certain aspects, and both the short and long-term.

I encourage you to consider taking some time to think or perhaps, pen your vision for your life or some aspect thereof. The truth is no one is ever “there” in life. There is always “more,” and most people want more for their lives. You don’t have to nail anything down or set something in stone. You don’t need to figure it all out in one day. Simply let yourself be energized by the exercise, your hopes, and your plans. Lastly, if you find you are feeling frustrated by the process, then I encourage you to shift your focus away from needing to know and have it all figured out, and focus on that which gives you “life.” Time will take care of the rest!

Whether you are contemplating your vocation and calling, your family life, your nutrition, and fitness, some aspect of self-care, your personal development, maximizing your fun, and more consider any questions that may apply:

What are your strengths?

What energizes you the most?

What inspires you?

Who inspires you?

What gives you the most joy?

Where do your sensitivities and compassion go?

What would help the most people?

What would give you the greatest return?

What would give you the greatest freedom?

What are your hopes?

What are your dreams? (Think big!)

What do people say you are good at?

What have you excelled at so far?

When you look back on your life, what will most satisfy you?

Who do you want to become?

Who do you want to be like? (Then walk out YOUR uniqueness and your calling).

What qualities do you want to emulate?

What characteristics do you want to develop?

What looks like the most fun to you?

What kind of people do you envision surrounding yourself with?

What was a childhood dream you had?

If you could do anything, what would you do?

What would you be most satisfied with doing?

Where can you take the limits off?

What do you believe about yourself?

What is the truth about who you are and what you can do?

How can you refine my vision?

In what area of your life do you want to reinvent yourself?

What do you want for your children (or your family)?

How can you support them?

I hope you enjoy brainstorming and constructing the visions for your lives!
